Since 1985, the Clinton Counseling Center (CCC) Jail Substance Abuse Program has been successfully helping inmates at Macomb County Jail make powerful positive lifestyle changes.

To receive help, all an inmate needs to do is make a written request (known as a “kite”) – or be referred to treatment by a family member, friend or the court.

CCC offers two jail substance abuse programs − Track I and Track II. Additionally, our counseling center offers Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings within the jail.

There is no cost to attend our jail substance abuse programs and we uphold the confidentiality of all participants.

CCC therapists are certified and/or licensed to provide counseling services. Our agency is state licensed and CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited.

For a number of inmates, time spent in jail provides a break from unhealthy routines at home and presents a golden opportunity to embrace healthy changes.

Two Jail Substance Abuse Program Tracks

Once we receive a referral or kite, the inmate is sent a pre-admission package. The package contains information aimed at empowering the individual to begin on the path of recovery. The package contains tools to enable the inmate to start making changes right away, while their name is placed on a waitlist, until they can be seen for an interview by one of our therapists, to determine how we can best help you.

Track I provides education about addiction and recovery. It meets once a week for five weeks. Each session is two hours long.

Track II provides group therapy services for substance abusers. The groups meet once a week for 15 weeks. Each session is two hours long. Some of the topics covered include lifestyle choices, coping with cravings, communication, relationships and life skills. Participants help to establish their own treatment goals! Prior to jail release, our center makes referrals to assist individuals with additional counseling services, support groups and other supportive services.

Throughout the counseling process, we use cognitive therapy approaches, which help individuals understand and change their thinking. Our services are client centered, which means that we understand that everyone’s needs are unique.

Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings are made available to inmates upon request.
